Surah 99
The Earthquake

This short, dramatic surah describes the final, massive shaking of the earth when it throws out its secrets and people stand to see even the tiniest speck of good or evil they did. The title is taken from the opening verse, which warns of the day when the earth shakes with its final earthquake.
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
1When the earth is shaken violently in its [last] quaking,
2When the earth throws out its burdens,
3When man cries, “What is happening to it?” —
4On that Day, it will tell all
5Because your Lord will inspire it [to do so].
6On that Day, people will come forward in separate groups to be shown their deeds:
7Whoever has done an atom’s-weight of good will see it,
8But whoever has done an atom’s-weight of evil will see that.
