Surah 93
The Morning Brightness
Al-Duha 🌤️
Revealed to comfort the Prophet after a long, painful silence between revelations, this tender surah reassures him that God has not abandoned him, reminding him of his past as an orphan to encourage kindness to others. The title comes from the first verse, which swears an oath by the morning brightness.
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
1By the morning brightness
2And by the night when it grows still,
3Your Lord has not forsaken you [Prophet], nor does He hate you,
4And the future will be better for you than the past —
5Your Lord is sure to give you so much that you will be well satisfied.
6Did He not find you an orphan and shelter you?
7Did He not find you lost and guide you?
8Did He not find you in need and make you self-sufficient?
9So do not be harsh with the orphan
10And do not chide the one who asks for help —
11Talk about the blessings of your Lord.
